My Take on Wounded Warrior Project and Donald Trump’s Veteran Fundraiser

We are not heroes for serving and supporting veterans – rather, the veterans that we serve and support are the REAL heroes.

AAEAAQAAAAAAAARMAAAAJDMyNDQ3MDg1LWIxYTYtNGJiNi1hZGFiLWZhZDZmY2Y1Njk4ZQ (1)Serving veterans has become fashionable and lucrative. Serving veterans has become a network of who’s who and who’s not who. Supporting veterans has become a cat fight. If you are not a part of the elite group of nonprofits, then you cannot join in on the fun nor can you join the team. Since when did serving and supporting veterans become fun, become a sport?

Better yet, why are so many veterans’ organizations overfunded and yet we still have SO many issues with our veterans who have sacrificed for this country?

Why do we have homeless veterans on the street and yet millions if not billions of dollars have been spent on this cause? Why are so many veterans are unemployed when there have been thousands of commitments to hire veterans? Where is the disconnect?

Our veterans continue to fall through the cracks. When do we say, enough is enough? We are all so focused on doing the “right” thing until we forget to do what’s right!

Serving veterans has become the “in” thing to do, the shiny new object to obtain. This is downright SHAMEFUL! We are not heroes for serving and supporting veterans – rather, the veterans that we serve and support are the REAL heroes.

As far as my take on Wounded Warrior Project and Donald Trump’s financial support for veterans, I don’t have one. My purposeful charge is for Women Veterans Interactive to continue making a positive impact in the lives of women who have served our country. #salute
