Community of Women Veterans: Take Your Seat at our Table

For 15 years, the Women Veterans Interactive Foundation has been dedicated to meeting Women Veterans at their points of need and empowering their post-military success. Incredible feedback, heartfelt testimonials, and life-changing stories over this time have shown us the power of intentional, dedicated support.

Our offering is simple but powerful: we have a seat at our table for each Woman Veteran.

Why is that so important? Because when Women Veterans take a seat at the table, they become part of a vibrant community of Women Veterans, gain access to tools and education that every Woman Veteran needs, and pursue their post-military journeys feeling empowered and ready.

Why Creating a Community of Women Veterans Is So Important

As the population of Women Veterans grows, the need for intentional spaces, mentorship, and resources has never been greater. Today, there are more than two million Women Veterans in the United States, making up about 11.3% of the entire Veteran population.

That percentage is expected to nearly double in the next 20 years.

That means more Women Veterans will be stepping into civilian life seeking meaningful opportunities for career growth, entrepreneurship, leadership, and connection. More Women Veterans will need access to healthcare. More Women Veterans will need advocates who stand up to meet them at their points of need.

Bottom line? More Women Veterans will need WVIF.

WVIF’s work over the past 15 years has been vital in building a robust community of Women Veterans that meets their evolving needs. By creating focused, safe spaces where Women Veterans are seen, heard, and supported, WVIF has ensured that every Woman Veteran has a seat at the table where her voice matters and her potential is recognized.

WVIF’s Three Pillars of Impact

WVIF organizes its work around three key pillars: Wellness, Safety, and Transition. Each pillar addresses critical areas where Women Veterans need tailored support, ensuring a holistic approach to post-military life.

Wellness

Wellness is foundational, and it’s multifaceted. True wellness is about feeling strong in body, mind, and purpose. In addition to communicating regular updates about new and vital resources, WVIF has been proud to partner with the Department of Veterans Affairs to offer our Annual Benefits Claim Clinic. This gives Women Veterans a one stop shop to enroll in VA, understand their healthcare and benefits, or file claims, and it removes barriers that often stand between Women Veterans and access to healthcare.

Programs like the National Women Veterans Pink & White Empowerment Summit have delivered an empowering space for Women Veterans to reignite their post-military purpose through entrepreneurship. At the Pink & White, Women Veterans connect with industry leaders and executives who share practical tools and inspirational wisdom to pursue their professional purpose, explore entrepreneurship, and reach their full potential. Plus, local and national nonprofits and corporations deliver health and wellness education, specifically tailored to the experience of ambitious, driven Women Veterans.

Safety

The Women Veterans population is experiencing increasing rates of food insecurity, homelessness, and mental health distress. Initiatives like Operation Safety Net ensure Women Veterans have access to safe spaces, critical resources, and protective services when they need it most.

For more than a decade, Operation Safety Net has offset the costs of utility bills, security deposits, and gasoline, so that Women Veterans in crisis situations have a safe, secure home. Operation Safety Net has also provided warm meals and Thanksgiving dinners, so that Women Veterans facing financial hardship can still put healthy food on their families’ tables.

Local chapters of WVIF extend this reach directly to their communities, raising funds and providing relief for Women Veterans in great need.

Transition

WVIF’s transition programs are designed to guide Women Veterans into civilian life with purpose and confidence. Over the last 15 years, we’ve implemented programs tailored to Women Veterans’ needs at the time. Programs such as Beyond the Transition, WVI NatCon, Women Veterans Transition Space, and the National Women Veterans Pink & White Empowerment Summit provide resume workshops, career coaching, mentorship, entrepreneurial empowerment, and leadership development opportunities. These initiatives equip Women Veterans to navigate post-military life, find meaningful careers, and step into leadership roles that benefit families, communities, and the nation.

The Power of Community

A community of Women Veterans is at the heart of everything WVIF does. The organization’s national membership continues to grow, and chapters in Washington, D.C., Fayetteville, Richmond, and Atlanta bring local access to programs and support. Programs like the Women Forward NYC Pink and White Empowerment Luncheon bring WVIF’s flagship events into local communities, expanding opportunities for connection, mentorship, and personal growth.

Time and time again, Women Veterans tell us that they keep coming back to events like WVI NatCon or the Pink & White Summit because of the community.

One Woman Veteran told us she felt “embraced by a sisterhood I didn’t even know I needed,” after attending WVI NatCon.

Another Woman Veteran shared that WVIF “brings us together through shared experiences and creates a space for connection that heals, empowers, and reminds us we’re not alone.”

Eustacia McCloud Carter told us, “I found a family, a Sisterhood, a community I had been missing.” She became a WVIF Legacy Member, and is now the President of the WVIF Atlanta Chapter.

Renee Copeland shared that she returns to WVI NatCon again and again because “it’s like a family reunion. I keep coming home.” She is a WVIF Legacy Member.

When Women Veterans come together in community, they strengthen bonds, share experiences, and lift each other up. Every WVIF chapter and program is an opportunity for Women Veterans across the country to experience the power of that community. Continuing to offer these vital programs and services will ensure that more Women Veterans know they have a seat a seat at the table, and a community to rely on. All they have to do is show up.

Ensuring the Next 15 Years of Impact

WVIF’s work is more critical than ever. As we celebrate WVIF’s 15th anniversary, we are challenged to level up our efforts to meet Women Veterans at their points of need. The population of Women Veterans is expanding, and the demand for mentorship, wellness resources, safety initiatives, and transition programs is growing.

We are poised to meet that challenge and ready to serve Women Veterans on an even greater scale, but we cannot do it alone. Your support ensures that we can continue building a national ecosystem where every Woman Veteran is supported and empowered.
